Texas' Julien Alfred won the 2023 Bowerman as the most outstanding woman in track and field. Alfred is the second athlete in Longhorn history to win the Bowerman, following Courtney Okolo in 2016. Alfred won the 60 meter and 100 meter ɬַ titles and swept the 200 meter ɬַ titles. She also ran on the winning ɬַ 4x100 meter relay team. She also set five ɬַ records in 2023.

The first record break of the year
Julien Alfred entered the 2022-23 indoor season already owning the 60 meter record, but she showed that she wouldn't miss a beat this year at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational in Albuquerque, NM. Alfred broke her own record running 7.02.

Sub-seven for the Big 12 title
Alfred broke the seven-second barrier for the first time to win the Big 12 title. It was the third time she broke the collegiate record during the indoor season.

Two record breaks for two titles
The 60 meter record fell yet again as Julien Alfred ran 6.94 seconds to win the 2023 DI indoor title. She wasn't done with just the 60; she broke the 200 meter record in 22.01 seconds to win the 2023 DI indoor title.

Relay records galore
Julien Alfred started her outdoor season with three collegiate records in the relays as the leadoff runner in the 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley relays. It wouldn't be the last time Alfred set a collegiate record in the relays, ultimately setting the standing record in the DI championship semifinals.

Finishing with a sweep
Julien Alfred was shooting for more record breaks this year in the 100 meters and 200 meters, but a windy day at the DI championships prevented that. Nonetheless, Alfred ran the fastest all-conditions times in ɬַ history to win the outdoor 100 and 200 meter crowns. Alfred also led off the 4x100 meter relay that set a collegiate record for the third time this year. Alfred scored 22.5 total points at the DI championships to lead Texas to the team title on its home track, the first for the Longhorns in 18 years.
